How to Sell Service Packages

Thursday, May 29th, 2008

By Kendall SummerHawk One of the strategies I’ve been nagging everyone about lately(yes, I do mean nagwith a smile of course!) is to quit focusingon features and start relishing results. So far, so good. Butwhere a lot of Service Professionals pull up short is when theytry to describe their packages. All of a sudden, features tumbleout like kittens running amok. Yes, you need to create packages. Yes, those packages willinclude a list of features (think the “mechanics” of what you dohere). But that’s not what your clients are buying. What your clients are buying is a result. So…what result doesyour Package A deliver? What result does Package B deliver? AndPackage C? You see, if you’re a coach, your clients don’t really care ifthey get three, 30-minute sessions a month with you, or four,45-minute sessions. If you’re an organizer, your clients don’t care if they getthree hours of your time or four. If you’re a designer, they don’t care if they get eight hours ofyour time or ten. What they care about is getting what they want! The coaching client wants to achieve their goals or makeimportant decisions in their life/business. The organizingclient wants to see their floor and desk top for the first timein months. The design client wants a marketing package thatgrabs attention. For example, when I designed my HorseWise Brilliance UnbridledV.I.P. program and the Success Circle Coaching Club, I lookedcarefully at the results each one delivers. Both offer similarstrategies but the Success Circle is more of a do-it-yourselfprogram (with an abundance of my mentoring and coaching) whilethe V.I.P. program delivers a very specific result in a veryspecific period of time (and a pickup truck load of my time, attention, and expertise). The difference between these two offers is distinctive enough towarrant an equally distinctive difference in the investment, andthat’s precisely the point. When your packages clearly offerdistinctive results your prospective clients are equally clearas to which one is right for them. Suddenly, their decisionbecomes easy to make -yeah! My request for you this week is simple…and profound. I’masking you to visit your packages with your “results glasses”on. Spell out exactly what is different for your clients as aresult of purchasing that package (for the time being, pleaseignore the mechanics of how you deliver these results). Do thisfor each of your packages. I bet you’ll easily create a list of results each packagedelivers, which is step #2. Start writing each result eachpackage will become famous for. Now, take one more look at your packages. What is distinctivelydifferent about one over the other? Think in terms of tiers, meaning that each package builds on the one before it, up toyour “platinum” or “V.I.P” offer. Congratulations! Now that you’re clear about the distinction inresults between each package, you’ll find gaining the attentionand interest of new clients tons easier. Really! Oh, and in case you’re wondering about those pesky features.Yes, you can talk about them, but ONLY after your client hastold you which package they are excited about. How to Attract Butterfly Activity…

Monday, May 26th, 2008

By Gordon Goh The flittering of the butterfly through your garden is no accident if you planned your garden carefully. The adult butterfly flitters from flower to flower - sipping nectar from many flowers in your gardens, while other adult butterflies search for areas to lay their larvae. It is good to take note that the butterfly garden is going to differ from other areas of your garden. Your natural instincts will be to kill off pests, larvae and creatures in the garden, but in the butterfly garden your best results are noticed when you use organic gardening: Which means no chemicals at all. In you want to include the use of butterflies in your landscape you will need to create a safety zone for your butterflies to feel safe. Butterflies frequent habitual zones, where they feel safe and where areas of the landscape meet with the tree lines. Creating your butterfly gardens near or around trees will help in attracting even more of these graceful creatures to your gardens. A tip in attracting the Black Swallowtail or the Anise Swallowtail is this: Plant parsley, dill or fennel in your gardens, these plants attract this certain butterfly. If these herbs are not your favorites, you can attract other types of butterflies using other flowers. To attract the Fritillary butterfly for instance, plant Lupine flowers your garden. Or you may want to consider planting Snapdragons to attract butterflies that are native in your own area. Your early butterfly gardens are going to attract butterflies only in passing, but creating and growing the gardens that offer a safe haven for the butterfly will urge them to stay in your garden. Butterflies are attracted to areas of your gardens where they can gather food for their offspring. The caterpillar will eat from the plants while the adult butterflies will sip on the nectar of the flowers. As your plants, shrubs, and flowers mature, the amount of butterflies to your gardens will also increase. The plants and flowers that you put in your garden this year will attract only a few, but in the years to come the natural instinct of the butterfly will lead them to your garden. What is the adult butterfly searching for in your gardens? The butterfly searches for areas to take shelter from the high winds, the rains, and the summer storms. This is where the trees and shrubs in your gardens become important in protecting the butterfly and offering shelter. During the normal, warm sunny summer day the butterfly wants the wide-open areas of your lawn and garden. Butterflies will seek soft soil that is sandy-like to find water. The sand-like soil that allows water to puddle up after a rainstorm is a butterflies delight. The developing stages of the caterpillar to the butterfly are observed often in the established butterfly garden. By creating the atmosphere in the garden that offers the shelter, food, water and the fragrance the butterfly is searching for you will have Butterfly Garden success. Mobile Ticketing

Saturday, May 17th, 2008

By Pattrick Robson An appropriate use of mobile and wireless technology has given birth to Mobile Ticketing. It is the latest and the most convenient way of purchasing tickets. Consumers no longer have to wait in long queues for buying tickets of movies, concerts, trains, planes or any football or soccer matches. In traditional method, paper tickets were having few disadvantages; like difficulty in receiving tickets at proper time; high cost of delivery of tickets through registered mails; worrying about loosing the tickets. Mobi-tickets or mobile ticketing freed you from these above disadvantages. Within a short span of time, youll receive your mobi-tickets into your mobile set. Mobi-tickets are unique electronic barcodes which are sent to the buyers via SMS, MMS or EMS. Then the tickets are redeemed at the venue by simply scanning the mobile phone displayed with barcodes with a standard scanner. Symbol MC50, Symbol MC70 and Symbol DS6608 are few of the scanner names used for scanning barcodes of the mobi-ticket. Mobile ticketing are having quite a number of advantages, like, they are cheaper than paper tickets which has a cost of printing and then posting those tickets to the consumers. Thus, it reduces the delivery and operational cost. The distribution of tickets can be absolutely guaranteed and it is done instantly. Since the consumers are not concerned about delivery of tickets, so they are more interested to buy them. As a result, there is a huge increase in the sale of tickets. There is no need to be worried about loosing mobi-tickets, since they are not just like traditional paper tickets which can be misplaced anytime anywhere. Consumers had even found it quite helpful, since, there is no need to queue up at the counters for collecting paper tickets. Unlike paper tickets, mobi-tickets can be cancelled if necessary and can even be re-issued effortlessly with the prior advantages of security and versatility. Finally organizers can properly track attendance at an event automatically and in real time. Thus, we can conclude with the say that mobile ticketing is an ultimate way of providing better services to their customers. Leftovers - What Could Be Better?

Wednesday, May 14th, 2008

By Carine Nadel With Thanksgiving a thing of the past for the year 2006, many of us already have several plastic containers, baggies and/or foil pouches in our refrigerators and freezers. I say “What could possibly be better?” This year, due to surgeries and injuries, the three “top chefs” of the family decided to have this year’s meal catered. Somehow we were still doling out literally cartons of food to family members as they departed. Being one of the usual cooks, I took home some of those said leftovers with definite thoughts on what I’d be doing with them to make not only the rest of the weekend easier, but quite probably most of the next week! Here’s what I took home and my plans for all of the packages:1 whole peppercorn crusted and roasted turkey breast 3 huge roasted yams (One will be used in some Sweet Potato-Banana Bread, one I will split and stuff with some turkey and cranberry relish and send for the men’s lunch) 1 quart fresh cranberry-orange relish 1 ham bone w/ about 1/2 pound of ham still attached (freezing to use in a traditional pea or lentil soup) The first night for the three members of our household:Just as they were packaged! Just slicing and reheating the turkey, one of the huge yams will serve all three of us and topping it with some of the cranberry relish. All I’m adding is a salad with romaine lettuce and tomatoes. Second night:Shredding about 3/4 of a pound of turkey and adding it to some store bought pasta sauce with mushrooms. Serving it over some linguine. Using some golden delicious apples and stuffing them with some of the relish and baking them as a side dish. Third night:Cutting the remaining turkey into chunks and stir-frying it with some bell peppers, onions, bean sprouts and sweet and sour sauce made with more of the cranberry relish. Serving it over brown rice and topping it with some toasted slivered almonds. Fourth night:Whatever’s left will be made into “must go soup”. This is an ever changing comfort food that my family has come to love. Depending on what’s actually left in the refrigerator I simply put in the tidbits and add some sad looking vegetables, chicken stock and fresh herbs at the end. Serve it with some of my homemade award winning Sweet Potato Banana Bread. (recipe to follow) By then it’s time to go replenish the old homestead. Then I will add those lentils or split peas to my shopping list and defrost the ham bone and make a nice big pot of soup in the crockpot. Again, it will be served with the homemade quick bread. With a little ingenuity, leftovers can be a wonderful thing! And now for your further enjoyment: Sweet Potato-Banana Bread Pre-heat oven to 350 and prepare two large loaf pans 2 C AP Flour 1/2 C whole wheat flour 1 tsp salt 1 tsp powder 1/2 tsp cinnamon 1 C mashed, roasted sweet potato or yam 1 C mashed banana (2-3) 1 C butter flavored shortening 1 C sugar 1 C packed brown sugar 4 eggs 2 tsp pure vanilla 1 tsp rum extract In a medium bowl, stir together all dry ingredients and set aside. In another small bowl, combine the potato and banana, set aside. In a large mixing bowl, cream shortening and sugars until fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating until well mixed. Beat in vanilla and rum extracts. Alternately add flour mixture and banana mixture. Beat well after each addition. Divide batter and spread evenly into prepared pans. Bake for 55-65 minutes or until a wooden toothpick inserted in centers come out clean. Cool in pans for 10 minutes. Remove and cool completely on wire racks. Makes 2 loaves (32 servings) Carine Nadel has had many recipes published in major magazines and newspapers. She also loves to write about what she observes amongst her family, friends and co-workers. The Toothbrush - A Calorie Fighter

Friday, May 9th, 2008

By Charles Rotblut The toothbrush may be the single most overlooked tool in weight loss. Why? It controls your portions and can limit your binging. To fully grasp this argument, let’s start with the obvious. Nothing tastes good with toothpaste. And even if you think chocolate tastes okay–something that is debatable, at best–regular flavored Listerine or some other medicine–tasting mouthwash will certainly make just about everything taste bad. Cook a reasonable portion, walk away, brush your teeth and you’re done eating for a while. Dieting does not get easier than this. The benefits of brushing do not end there, however. Say you are having cravings, but you don’t want to eat. The lowly toothbrush suddenly becomes your friend. By the time you walk to the bathroom, brush your teeth, swish some mouthwash and walk back, there is a reasonable chance that your craving will be gone. And even if it isn’t, you really not going to want to eat anything, anyway. There are additional benefits. Brush for a full two minutes–the minimum time dentists recommend brushing–3x a day and you burn nearly 5500 calories a year. That’s an extra 1.5 pounds off of your waistline just for doing something that you should be doing anyway. Your teeth will be healthier, which means less time in the dentist chair. Most importantly, your teeth will be whiter, and that will make you feel better about yourself. Note, that if you drink soda, you should wait 30 minutes before brushing your teeth. The reason is that soft drinks, and even sports drinks, contain acids that breakdown tooth enamel. Rather, rinse your mouth out with water, or something like Listerine, and then wait for 30 minutes before brushing. Best bet: stop drinking soda. Next best bet: rinse your mouth with water, go for a light 30-minute walk and then brush your teeth.
